This is my little princess. She’s in the Philippines right now. She’s spending time with one side of the family while waiting for the US Government to decide she can come home where she belongs. She’s so precious. We love her with all our might.

Overdue Update: Pictures!

May 24th, 2006

My wife has been asking me to put these pictures up for sometime now. Sorry for the delay, but my job keeps me busy and with my trip to the Philippines, it was difficult to find time upon my return. So, she asked me tonight to put the pictures up. I’m going to try and put as many up as possible! :)

Here we go:

Snowstorm of 2006

February 12th, 2006

It was a doozy!

The reports were unbelievable, 6-10″ of snow - then, all of a sudden, the reporters started adding more - calling for 6-14″ of snow!! They were right in the middle as we received a little over one foot of snow!!

Because the snow was so heavy, it blocked my satellite picture until the snow was so heavy on that sloping surface that it finally just fell off. The disturbing trend that happened overnight was the fact the power went out about five times. Each time it went out, it was only for 30 seconds or so but as I was going down stairs, at 4:00 AM to check on things, I saw some large flashes of light from outside that looked like a transformer or something was blowing up. I’m not sure what it was, but I decided to disconnect my outdoor lighting circuit just in-case.

Here are a few pictures to show you just how great/bad it was:

I wish I would have taken these pictures earlier in the day as the snow was twice the size; we had sunshine all afternoon and it melted half the snow!

Yes, my wonderful sloping backyard with the ugly set of trees.

As you can see, the sun did a great job of cleaning off my car before I ended up having to do it! Woohoo!

Same thing with my wife’s car, no cleaning for me!

New Pictures 01-27-2006

January 28th, 2006

My wife was able to send me new pictures today. We spent a little over an hour “video-chatting” using yahoo instant messenger. I was very happy. I got to see my babies — my wife, and my little girl Dakota. Another great thing happened today, my co-workers at Keane Keane pooled some money together and bought us some very nice gifts for our baby! I was very touched — both me and my wife say thank you to all the staff in my department who were so thoughtful! And without further adeu, here are the pictures:

Dakotas First Bath!

January 7th, 2006

Well, it took long enough, but we finally gave Dakota her first bath. We were going to give the baby a bath on Friday the 6th, but apparently, here in the Philippines, there’s a small superstition that you don’t ever give a baby a bath on a Friday! :) Strange, but true; and we followed the instructions none-the-less. Oh well.

Here is a picture of our naked little baby during her bath time with mommy!!

Having a Newborn!

January 5th, 2006

Hello everyone,

I finally have a little time to sit and tell all of you what has been going on. Dakota Reyes Townley was born January 4, 2006, at 11:32 AM, 7lbs 15oz, 20″ long. Vangie and I are very excited. We weren’t excited, however, that we weren’t able to take the baby the day she was born. They required the birth-mother (Vangie’s Brother’s Wife — sister in law) to stay the night at the hospital along with the baby. We were slightly dissapointed, but we were able to sleep for one more night….

Then, the next day, we were even more upset because the birth mother (Annie) was able to go home, but they said the baby needed to stay overnight for observation for possible Blood type O/A/B incompatability. I asked for an explanation and they just gave me a dumb-look. They explained, then, that there might be an incompatibility between the mother and the baby because the mother’s blood is type O and the baby’s blood is type B and that it causes jaundice (yellowing of skin) and that the baby needed to stay over night for observation.

Needless to say, I was NOT happy about this AT ALL. Don’t get me wrong, if the baby needs to stay over night because there is a problem, fine, I have no issue with that. But when there is NO information given and NO explanation just an assumption of “we’re right, you’re stupid,” I don’t play that game.

There wasn’t really anything we could do, we’re not the birth-parents. That night, Vangie and I went to an internet cafe and looked up the information about the supposed problem and it made perfect sense at that point. I was no longer mad — just mad that I had to go and find the information myself rather than receive an explanation from the Dr. The Drs in the Philippines, based on my experience, really assume that their patients are stupid, pretty pathetic.
